So I was reading the bible last night before I went to sleep. I read Luke 4:4.
"And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
Very famous passage. I remeber when I was a kid I read this and thought, "Of course not. We need Bap, Meat, and Kim chee". But the first time I read this passage was when I was 10 years old. John Hwangbo was my Sunday school teacher. And I was a fob. So He taught it in English so I would just read it in Korean. In Korean Bible, it says that.......
"Man Shall not live by DDUK alone!" dduk is obviously the Korean rice cake. I was really confused by this when I was a kid. Dduk was something that barely ate. Only in the hollidays and what not. Isn't that funny? DDuk? Obviously Korea did not have bread when he bible was translated. But it is so funny! But I guess you can make many things with dduk. dduk bok ki, dduk gook, just dduk. it is good stuff! Ahh the nostalgia!
