Restless Heart

There is trouble in paradise. As some of you might know, I refer to my work place as pardise. Yesterday, my co-workers and I were evicted out of our building at work.... I am not sure what will happen. But it can be parsdise lost.... Wacked. So I was bothered by everything all day. I was running out of patience..... But the Lord is always good to me. I came across one of my favorite quotes last night.

"Our hearts are restless, unless our hearts rest upon you O Lord"
St. Augustine

I am always stubborn and stupid. But I am never without the Lord. I am going to seek my comfort in Him. Though I sin over and over again, though I discourage others constantly, I am asking you, the readers of my blog to pray for me, my work, and my boss. Pray that my restless heart restd upon Him.

Anime Culture

I went with David Lim to return some Japanese Anime DVDs.(I did NOT rent them) We drove all the way to this little store that specialize on Japanese cartoon and those people that play card games... Not poker or black jack. I am not sure what kind of game it was called but stupuid card games such as pokemon card games and other God knows what kind of games. I have never seen so many dorks in my life. You know the kind. Back in the 80's they played Dungeons and Dragon. Those dorks have evolved to this group of geeks that puts their predecessors to shame. I mean they were all into this meaningless game and talking about some card that had special powers and yelling out "Awwww yaeh, my special hologram card can destroy your weak non-hologram card anyday". And all the dorks playing along would say "ooooohhhhhhhhhh, dang". Full grown geeks and geekettes playing pokemon cards or something equally lame. When I finally got over the dorkiness of these fools, I walked up to the anime section. They were whole another kind of nerds. Now i should say that I appreciate some Japanese cartoons. The art work is incredible and they put much more energy to their animations than others. But what I witnessed was unacceptable. Bunch of geeks asking each other about what is new and this that and the other. Even that is ok. But when I heard some one say "who do you think would win between Gundam Z and Skull Leader?" I almost busted out in laughter. But the guy who had the answer...... "Well That is a tough toss up....." And he started naming off why and how one or the other could win. I felt like the little coolness I had was being sqeezed out of me. But the straw that broke the camels back was when some young kid was looking through PORN ANIME. One of the kid's friend said "Hey are you old enough to look at that, hee hee hee....hyuk hyuk". Laughing as only a nerd can. Here is the reason why I was disturbed. I was his age once and I could sympathize with the kid on the curiosity of some thing as taboo as porn. But this kid was looking through another form of evil. CARTOONS made into porn. I had to leave. I told David I will wait for him outside. He was in an intense conversation with the clerk about a new Macross that was cancelled.

David : Ah.... Ah.... is it true that rest of Macross 0 has been cancelled
Male Nerd Clerk : No Way....
Female Nerd Clerk : It's true because they had disputes about rights.
Male Nerd Clerk : My life is over.....
David : DANG! I hate it when they do that.
Da Fevah :David. I going out side... think I am going tobe sick....

I walked out side had a smoke and waited for David to come out. He finnally came out and we left.

Da Fevah : Man I couldn't believe those clowns in there.... The card players were the worst....
David : Ah.. Ah.. I don't pley those card games but don't knock it till you try it....
Da Fevah : The day you see me at that place playing pokemon cards, just do me a favor and kill me. Cause I won't have anything else to live for.

Evil hits all of us in different form. Whether you are cool, beautiful, nerdy, or stupid. This is why I have not given up yet on pretty girls for Jesus ministry. You can click on it and scroll down to my vision. I blogged about it on Thursday, January 30, 2003.

My DMV Rendezvous

I was on my way home the other day and I got a phone call from my "friend" who got engaged (for those who don't know, I blogged about her before). She said "What are you doing?" I told her I was driving home. She said "I am in Fullerton. Wanna meet up?" So I agreed. She was actually at DMV and wanted to hang out afterwards.

She said "why don't you meet me here and I will buy you a beer after words." So I said ok. But what I did not realize was that she was going to be waiting for a long time. When I finally made it to DMV, she greeted me. There is no place in the world worse than DMV. Apparently she waited for 2 hours and she still had a long way to go. I thought to myself "I got suckered". She said "I still have 30 numbers in front of me". I was going to leave. Cause no beer is worth waiting at DMV for hours. She suggested that we go to a liquor store across the street and "brown bag it" since she had such a long wait left. I thought to myself "How ghetto!" but it was better than no beer so we did. We shared this Heineken Keg can and Pringles chips. As we were devouring our beer and chips at a parking lot, I thought to myself, "She is going to be going back to DMV liquored up...." I suggested that we should stop. But it was too late. I could tell she was buzzing. She said "I did not eat anything all day and I am buzzed" The first thought that came to my mind was "Sh*t". So I ended up talking to here about non-sense for a little while. We got in another argument. And yet again we made up. We both forgot about DMV. when we finally went back they already passed her by twenty numbers. Since she has been drinking I thought I should talk to them instead of her. I told them we missed our turn. They gave me a hard time but let us go next.

By this time I was regretting my decision to meet her here in the land of immigrants also known as DMV. Here is a question for you. Why is it that DMV is always filled with minorities. Out of thousands of people who were at DMV I would say I saw 4 white people. Do white people have their own DMV? Anyways, I came up with couple of places that I never want to goto again. DMV, Admin office in college, federal building, and last but not least... drumroll please...

drumroll.....

drumroll.....

drumroll.....

drumroll.....

Jail..... yes I spent a night in jail once. I did some hard times. I should get a tear tattoo beneath my eye. Cause I am hard. That is right, mess with me and I will cap you in the knees. I will blog about my "Hard Times" one day.

Beethoven's 9th and the War

To relieve my stress over the war, I busted out the Glorious 9th Symphony by Ludwig Van Beethoven on my way to work this morning. My CD of the 9th is conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler.

Though the 9th may be overplayed, it is by far the greatest symphony ever, in my humble opinion. When I hear classical music, I some how try to imagine what the composer was thinking. In the 9th, I can some how really feel the composer's anger, power, yet a resolution. The 9th has one of the most dramatic beginning. Yet with all that power and force, the 9th goes to a peaceful harmonious resolution and it ends with a glorious tribute to God. There are so many great recordings of the 9th. But there is a story behind why I bought Furtwängler's recording instead of others such as Toscanini, Burnstein or Karajan. Which are I am sure all great recordings. But I bought Furtwängler's CD because of sad story that went along with this great recording. And let me tell you, it is an awesome recording. Apparently Furtwängler was the head conductor of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra during the Nazi Regime. Along with Herbert Von Karajan, Furtwängler was the pride of German Nazi Party. But he was labeled a traitor by the Nazi party for helping the Jews during Hitler's regime. So the world saw him as a Nazi and the Nazis saw him as a traitor. Furtwängler's last performance in Germany during the nazi era is Legendary. He conducted Bruckner's 9th but no one showed up because Nazis considered him a traitor. Only person in attendance was a lone recording engineer who claims that it was the most amazing performance ever. It was recorded.

After the whole mess was over(WW2), he was shunned by music world. He came to New York to conduct the 9th symphony. Some Jews found out and bought every ticket. Basically they bought every ticket and burned them. No one showed up but one reporter. he performed the Beethoven's 9th for one reporter. After another performance in an empty theater, he fell into depression. After that he got a pneumonia. Doctors were sure that he would recover. But he told his wife that he wished to die. His final wish was granted..... He died. After I read that story I bought his 9th on CD. It was a good investment.

I wonder how I would have reacted in his shoe.... Furtwängler was ruined by his country and by war. I hope that this war can eventually lead to peace.

So I am back to blog.....

It is good to be back. I worked all weekend through yesterday on my apartment. Yesterday was the worst. Lifting things all day. But it is done. I have new carpet and a new attitude. It is funny but I was blessed after the whole thing was over. I rearranged my room and rearranged my life. I did not know why that God allowed this horrible weekend to happen but only thing I can come up with is that God knew we needed new carpet. In my room, I was cleaning out the TV and it was dust infested. When I lifted the TV, I realized how bad it was.

I had dust bunnies behind the desk and the TV. It was nasty. How long was I breathing in the dust. I was wondering where all the dust bunnies came from. They started off in a little corner and they were growing fast. But as of yesterday, the dust bunnies are extinct in my apartment. These dust bunnies must have been mating like hell. There sure were a lot of offspring. But all the bunnies are gone now.

I took little break yesterday from moving and I watched the Lakers vs. Clippers. As I was watching Sean Rooks, something hit me. I noticed it before but I will let you decide. Is it me or does Sean Rooks look allot like Homer Simpson?

"what we've got here, is a failure to communicate"
As my terrible weekend comes to an end, I am afraid that tommorow might be worse. My tilet over flowed and my apartment was flooded. This was aweful. The whole weekend was spent working except for Sat. night. We had our first movie club night. We watched "Cool Hand Luke" and "Ban-Chik Wang(Fowl King)" I slept over at Song duk Dong's house. I think that people enjoyed both movies. Well.... Not everybody.

Members and those who has seen the movie Cool Hand Luke, Please give a review of the Film...
